Stable Cottage

Mawnan Smith, Cornwall

2023

Located in Mawnan Smith, a village near the entrance to the River Helford on the South Coast of Cornwall, Stable Cottage was first presented to Ollie Berryman as a stone building, with our client requesting a deep renovation and an extension of this heritage property.

Throughout the project, we sourced specialist heritage materials and preserved original features wherever possible; retaining the cottage’s character was paramount.

To enhance energy efficiency, we installed an MVHR unit and upgraded the roof, windows, and doors with improved insulation. Natural building materials were used throughout, ensuring a sustainable and high-quality finish.

Project details

Sourcing the stone was key to retaining heritage features for the new extension.

Upgrading efficiency was a key aspect for the client, as well as creating more living space for this family.

Berryman Construction brought together specialists in deep, heritage renovation and new-building aspects, side-by-side.

“We are thrilled with the results and would highly recommend [Berryman Construction] to anyone undertaking a project. Ollie and the team bring great expertise, sympathetic and pragmatic advice and were always open to finding the best solutions for the design and ongoing living in the space. We found they went above and beyond to source appropriate materials and to meet personal deadlines.

We would choose to work with Berryman Construction again in the future.” – Client, Stable Cottage.
