Silverdale
Swanpool, Cornwall
2022
This was our first Passivhaus replacement-dwelling project. To meet Passivhaus standards, the new building needed to be highly insulated, with no thermal bridges in the envelope – as designed by Dow Jones Architects.
We built this new residential property to be airtight, enabling the integration of a heat-recovery ventilation system that works with the highly insulated windows. Accoya timber cladding was fitted and gives way to a pitched roof-form construction; this conceals two storeys with extended eaves - a brise-soleil to prevent overheating in the summer.
